Last week was São João, and Porto burned bright. Every year, this city does something no other city in the world quite does, streets filled with music, sardines on every corner, paper lanterns drifting over the Douro. We’re a team from Porto. This day means something to us.
While the city celebrates, something quietly rises over the river: the Ponte D. Antónia Ferreira. 838 metres of reinforced concrete arch, one of the largest bridges of its kind in the world, taking shape right here. It will carry the Linha Rubi metro, pedestrians, and cyclists between Porto and Gaia.
